1. Who we are
NextRink (“NextRink”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a hockey team performance platform operated by NextRink, with registered address at [REGISTERED ADDRESS, CITY, PROVINCE, POSTAL CODE, CANADA].
For privacy questions or requests, contact nextrink@gmail.com. For general support, contact nextrink@gmail.com.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain personal information in connection with NextRink. It is drafted for a Canada-first posture under PIPEDA and contemplates Quebec Law 25 readiness. It is not legal advice.
2. Roles: controllers and processors
Account holders (head coaches, assistant coaches, parents, association admins, and platform admins) provide their own account information. For that information, NextRink acts as an organization responsible for determining how it is used to operate the service.
Player / roster information (including names, dates of birth, jersey numbers, performance notes, ratings, and stats) is entered by coaches or associations (or imported by them). Those organizations decide what player data to upload and are responsible for having lawful authority to do so. NextRink processes that data to provide the service they request.
3. Youth and children’s information
NextRink is directed at coaches, associations, staff, and parents — not at children creating their own accounts. Users must be 18 or older to create an account. Players in youth divisions (for example U7–U18) may appear as roster data subjects without holding an account.
Coaches and associations must only enter player information when they have appropriate authority (for example parental permission or association authorization). Parents invited to a team may be linked to specific roster players and may see notes marked parent-visible.
Parents who want a player’s information corrected or removed should contact the team’s coaching staff or association first, or email nextrink@gmail.com. We will work with the responsible organization where appropriate.
4. Information we collect
Account and authentication: email address; Google account identifiers when you use Google sign-in; name fields associated with your profile; session tokens.
Team and organization: team names, association and program details, roles (coach, assistant coach, parent, admin), invite emails, and membership links between parents and roster players.
Roster and player data: names, jersey numbers, positions, status, hometown, date of birth, shot side, image URLs if provided, height/weight where present in legacy data, and links across seasons.
Performance and coaching content: game schedules and events, lineups, questionnaires, tags, player ratings, notes (including parent-visible notes), and game stats.
Billing: when you purchase a prepaid team season via Stripe Checkout, we receive payment status and Stripe identifiers (customer, checkout session, payment intent). Card numbers are handled by Stripe, not stored by NextRink.
AI feature inputs: when staff use AI-assisted import, lineup generation, or the in-app assistant, relevant team and player context may be sent to our AI provider to generate a response. Embeddings of certain team content may be stored to power retrieval.
Technical data: functional cookies and similar technologies described in our Cookie Notice. We do not currently use third-party advertising or product analytics pixels.
5. How we use information
- Provide, secure, and improve the NextRink service
- Authenticate users (Google OAuth or magic-link email)
- Send transactional email (login links, invites, request decisions)
- Process prepaid season payments and provision team access
- Enable coaching workflows (rosters, lineups, feedback, analytics)
- Power optional AI-assisted features initiated by authenticated staff
- Respond to privacy and support requests
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service
We do not sell personal information. We do not send marketing newsletters from the product today. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide required choices.
6. Service providers (subprocessors)
We use vendors to operate NextRink. They process personal information only to provide services to us:
- Google — OAuth sign-in
- Stripe — payment processing
- OpenAI — AI-assisted features
- Neon — managed Postgres database
- Hetzner — application hosting
- Email delivery provider (SMTP / Resend) — transactional email
Some providers are located in or process data in the United States or other countries. When information is transferred outside Canada, we rely on contractual and organizational safeguards appropriate to the transfer, as advised by counsel.
7. Retention
Prepaid team season access is generally provisioned for about nine months, after which access may become view-only per product rules. We generally retain team and roster content while the team remains active and for up to 24 months after the team’s active use ends, unless an earlier deletion request is completed or a longer period is required by law or dispute resolution.
Account information is retained while your account is active. After account deletion, we remove or anonymize personal identifiers we control, subject to residual backups and legal holds.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting prior lawful processing.
Signed-in users can export their account package and request account deletion from Account → Privacy in the app. Deleting your account removes your user record and memberships. Team-owned roster and performance data generally remains available to the team/association until they delete it, unless you are the head coach and choose to delete teams you own as part of account deletion.
We aim to respond to privacy requests within 30 days. Contact nextrink@gmail.com. You may also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or a provincial authority.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including HTTPS, authenticated sessions, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
10. Cookies
We use functional cookies necessary to run the service. See our Cookie Notice for details. We do not currently require a marketing-cookie consent banner because we do not set advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated in-product or by email when appropriate.
